About Us
A little about me and my shop. My name is Shelley, I am a wife and mother of two beautiful daughters. I have always loved crafting as my hobby. From tole painting on the weekends, cake decorating, taking air-brushing lessons, and the list continues. I made sure my children grew up loving art as well. They were always in classes and I encouraged them to be artistic in any media they chose that day. My husband is a tradesman and lucky for us a “do-it-all” handyman. So when I was laid off from my last banking job of 20 years, I decided to take that scary situation and turn it into an opportunity to do something I am passionate about. I used my artistic and creative side and combined it with my husband’s ability to fix anything and everything and I opened up my own antique and up-cycled furniture shop. It hasn’t been an easy process. It started with renting sections of already established shops here in Oro Grande and Victorville. Then I decided to upgrade a bit, and rent a small shop of my own. Eventually all the cards played out and we were able to grow and expand into what we are today, Shelley’s Shop Around the Corner. We are one of the last remaining antique shops in this historic destination, antique shopping area of Route 66. We have a little bit of everything, and there’s always treasures to be found. My husband and I enjoy searching for these treasures together. Some take some TLC to become the unique pieces we have in our shop, some just needed the right eye to find. This little shop has become something I am very proud of and something everyone needs to come see for themselves. There’s always something for everyone here.
